Melanie is on a roll; she won her first six BWL fights. But tonight, she faces powerhouse Paul, who won his last four fights and whose last defeat dates back to December 2016, when he faced Champion Caribe. Both show up in the ring to win, but we all know only one of them will.
Well I for one agree with ForeShadow’s analysis, he clearly has a good understanding of these characters.
oooooooh…. i don’t know what squeaky wheels means but if it means disappointed and let down …. well…. that’s me…. come on boys… yes everything Foreshadow says… yes …ok… but we could have all that and not have to go through a ridiculous ending…. I’ve always supported the need for suspended disbelief…. honest… even when grumbling… but I’m beyond that now… a girl can only take so much… yes Paul is a decent guy but now you’ve made him stupid!!! ….and…. and…. Melanie…ok … I get the whole body shaming gig… but a newbie with six straight wins …well that’s off the end of disbelief… and how come those extra pounds have suddenly leapt up to the little slut’s tits ???….. shes more off balance top heavy than Barbie… and …. is she so dumb as to think Paul goes easy because she once gave him a good time? … an arrogant and self- centred slut… who hasn’t the twentyfirst century gumption to propose herself…what kind of girl is that …certainly not a six win newbie… now a seven win newbie… surely you aren’t planning a first defeat by Don to make sure he’s confident enough to agree to marry her….or anything as obvious as her fighting him to force him into agreeing…. please boys.. ridiculous result is one thing … and sooooo disappointing….please don’t let your usual standards slip any further … pleeeease boys… don’t do us girls down any further… pleeeeease !
Squeaky Wheels for me are due to dynamics, the match doesn’t sell. I understand Entropy has his style, but seeing her eat clean punches from a dude of Paul’s size and build, then trade shots with him just looks dumb.
I’m fine with the end of him getting over aggressive and running into a knee as a “stroke of luck” giving Melanie the win, but everything before that makes less sense than I am willing to suspend disbelief for.
I’ve mentioned this before, it’s something we just accept because it’s the style he goes with.
I have a feeling that this fight will make the Squeaky Wheels pretty pissy, but I personally loved it, because it builds on character.
Paul is one of my favorite of the male characters because he’s the Stand-up Guy. Being so big and so strong, he doesn’t have much to prove, so he’s pretty humble and honorable. I like the idea that he would feel guilty about France (even though it wasn’t entirely his fault…he was just the last one to fight her, and the damage was cumulative), and that it would throw off his game as he struggled with those emotions.
I also think it’s interesting the way that Melanie misreads the situation as Paul being into her…
While she’s been pushing for Don to propose to her, she’s also been on a winning streak, and this has been building her confidence. No shade on Don, but I think a big reason that Melanie has been so committed to him is that she didn’t think she could do any better because her self-esteem and body dysmorphia convinced her that she wasn’t attractive to other men…now she’s become more confident and she’s starting to wonder.
Some solid character work in this one that creates some interesting avenues for story! Great work again!
