BWL-718: Post-Fight Interviews

After last week’s kickboxing bout between Kim and Petr, we conducted some post-fight interviews. SPOILER ALERT! If you didn’t watch the fight yet, DON’T READ THIS!

Petr, you seemed to be on top most of this fight. What happened?

What happened is I stopped fighting before the fight was over. After the knockdown, I was so sure I was winning that I relaxed a bit too much.

Does it have anything to do with having a timed bout?

I think it does. This is still relatively new in the League, so we’re not used to accounting for time in our fight management. Usually, we go all-out until someone loses. Knowing you can win—or lose—without a tap out or a KO, all on some judges’ scorecard, it’s still pretty foreign.

But if I think back to the fight, by the end, I was behind on hits but I scored a knockdown, so I was pretty sure this fight was mine. I didn’t work on scoring more points or a KO because I thought it was in the bag. You can bet that’s a mistake I won’t make again.

Did knowing you beat her on your last kickboxing fight lure you into a sense of security?

Probably. I mean I KOed her last time, but that was 2014, you know? Eight years is a long time. She trained, I trained—lots can change. The point is we’re pretty evenly matched in this League—and this is all to the girl’s credit! Knowing that I have 73 pounds on Kim and we’re considered evenly matched—it says a lot about her.

So you’re not mad you lost?

I’m INCENSED and I’ll do everything I can to kick her tiny hiney next time she’s unfortunate enough to share a ring with me, but she won this one fair and square. I hate her for that, but that’s it.

Do you feel Robin could’ve stopped the fight after the knockdown?

Nah. Kim got up. If she decided to stop the fight, that would’ve been the most unsatisfying of victories for me. Kim was willing and able to go on, and her victory proves it. Good reffing job. No complains.

Kim, that was touch and go for a while.

It was. I won, but with Petr, it could’ve gone either way. He pushed me to the edge. I won’t say I was lucky—luck had nothing to do here—but I’ll go with opportunistic. He gave me an opening and I took it.

Loved the KO finish, but the big story is what happened with Robin. What DID happen?

I’m not sure. After my knockdown, she started taunting me. At first I thought she wanted to whip me back into action, but after, I realized she just had a bone to pick with me.

What bone would that be?

I have no idea. I always stayed out of her way and I think I respected her. Yes, we fighters have hot heads so maybe I said a few things in the heat of a fight, but nothing more than any other fighter did. I just felt she was on edge—like—I don’t know—it was chemical.

Chemical?

Like she was setting off something in me. She was the nitric acid to my glycerin, you’d say if you were a geek. It was weird. I have nothing against her and she just reacted to me. Maybe we’ll know more when I kick her ass in a sexfight.

You will face her in a sexfight?

Nothing is set yet, but nobody challenges me like she did and gets away with it. Plus, she’s really hot and I hear all sorts of crazy stories about her—stories that make me want to see if she lives up to her reputation.

Like what?

The tape where Denise gets her ass handed to her—America’s Next Sex Symbol—some say the show didn’t make it to air because of a tragedy on set—and some say the tragedy involved Robin.

Woah. Shouldn’t this make you careful?

This makes me curious as hell. If the woman can make another woman cum until she—well, that’s what’s been going around anyway. So if she can do this, I’d really like to face her, see if I measure up. Who knows? Maybe it’s just hype. By definition, refs are outsiders. It’s only normal that wild stories will circulate about them. With a bit of luck, I’ll debunk Robin’s faster than a Trump lie!
